I’m Katie Nairn — a business growth and implementation partner, lifelong entrepreneur and someone who is much more interested in getting things done than making them sound complicated.
I have built businesses and delivered projects across recruitment, property, events, consultancy, training and construction. Since establishing Katie Nairn Consulting in 2014, I have worked through substantial contracts with enterprise agencies, councils, third-sector organisations, development trusts and business owners.
Alongside my husband, Craig, I co-built Nairn Construction from the kitchen table into a multi-million-pound company. I have experienced the decisions, systems, risks and occasional chaos involved in turning an idea into a business capable of growing sustainably.
That combination of organisational work and real business ownership shapes how I help people today: clear thinking, honest challenge, practical systems and support that continues beyond the planning stage.
A bit more about me
At the age of 23 I walked away from a successful career in London to start something new back here in Scotland. I knew I wanted to build a life and career that felt more meaningful and I haven't looked back.
I've built what I know by doing it — building businesses across recruitment, property, childminding, events and construction whilst running a house, raising three children and supporting others through my consultancy. I pick up the phone to sort problems rather than waiting for a textbook answer.
I live in Lockerbie, in the South of Scotland, and that shapes how I work. I've seen how much good, capable business gets overlooked simply because it isn't based somewhere with a postcode people notice. Rural doesn't mean small thinking — it means you learn to be resourceful, and I like working with people who are.
Outside work, it's my husband Craig, our three young adults, and usually a dog and a horse or two somewhere in the mix. That's the real backdrop to all of this — none of it is theory.
